Go here and reload until you get five quotes that sum up your philosophy or outlook, then post them.

1) Success is a journey, not a destination. The doing is often more important than the outcome.
-Arthur Ashe

2) When you encounter difficulties and contradictions, do not try to break them, but bend them with gentleness and time.
-St. Francis de Sales (Looking at YOU here, JHVH!)

3) To resist the frigidity of old age one must combine the body, the mind and the heart - and to keep them in parallel vigor one must exercise, study and love.
-Karl von Bonstetten

4) The most important thing is to be whatever you are without shame.
-Rod Steiger

5) I am here for a purpose and that purpose is to grow into a mountain, not to shrink to a grain of sand. Henceforth will I apply ALL my efforts to become the highest mountain of all and I will strain my potential until it cries for mercy.
-Og Mandino

...You know, sometimes I think I don't give humans enough credit.

I'm going to cheat here, and return to an old favorite. Also, just one:

Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.
--Oscar Wilde

This remains true.

That...sounds so incredibly and precisely like You, I have to ask.

Did You go and provide any inspiration for Wilde? ...Or Churchill, for that matter?

Well, considering how You messed around with Nieztche not too long ago...

But nah, I kid. Everyone experiments once or twice, right?

There is a knock on the door, Good Sir, and a wine-hued Kage holding a Box!

There is quite a bit of Capitalization going around! Fortunately, Zhilbar doesn't mind in the least.

Still, the door sweeps open without hand to move it, to reveal a disgruntled-looking dragon of deepest crimson hue- and only a little smaller than Zhilbar Himself. "And how may I help you-" At which point, she scans down a fine-printed list on the wall beside her, before turning back- "Mr. Kage?"

Oh, and did we mention she positively reeks of purest malevolent evil?

Because she positively reeks of purest malevolent evil.

Kage tends to get along with Evil, oddly enough. "I'm looking for the Great Gold Lizard Himself, Ma'am. Is Zhilbar at home?"

From: [identity profile] zhilbar.livejournal.com
She heaves a big sigh, touched with flecks of flame. "Is He ever not home? I swear, that one has the most irritating travel habits.." She closed her eyes for a moment, checking on His status-

And then opened them up again, starting a slow grin. "By all means, sir. Go right in! He wouldn't dream of keeping you waiting!"

Kage feels a slight twinge at that smile, but hey, it's Kage. "Thank you, Lovely Lady. You've been most kind." And he will enter, looking for The Lizard in Question.

She'll nod graciously at that, pleased to note that her resplendent beauty is clear even to the tiny peoples, then urge Him on through her foyer to the lair proper. He might see her going back to admiring herself in a giant piece of polished steel as the doors close...

And the way past is grand indeed! The hall, set large enough to accommodate two Gojiras walking side by side, seems finished with a simple gold-and-cream look... Until one notices that the textures are slowly flowing along the walls, lit from the gem-glittering ceiling. In Kage's case, after a few dazzling moments of rainbowed shine, the display darkens save for the yellow and white stones, as a line springs forth to point the way over the warm stone beneath his feet.

It takes a turn into a hall built humanscale fairly soon, twisting and jagging through a veritable maze of walkways; passing up kitchens and laboratories, smithies and mines filled with scale-covered pygmies and a roofed-in grove featuring elves robed in gold, three different libraries and a council chamber filled with shouting jellyblobs and so on and so forth and then the door!

Pretty nice door, but nothing special. Except for the sound of declaiming Zhilbar and feminine giggling coming through it, of course.

Kage, Living with a Dragon, a Cat, and springing from a race who likes things Grand, is duly impressed, but not overwhelmed. Not underwhelmed, mind you, but just Whelmed enough.

And he's still carrying The Box when he knocks politely.

"WHEEEEEEEEN aaaaa,
truck hits your spine and you can't even whine,
That's Celeste.
When you hop in the sack and get a heart attack,
That's Celeste.

Gunshots rang, bang-a-bang-bang, drink some Tang, no more gang,
THAAAAAAAAAT'S Celes-"
Who's that knockin' at His door!?

Thus, the door opens, to reveal a snazzy!Kage and The Box.

THE BOX.

Kage, for his part, would see a golden dragon(par for course) floating in midair (not unusual for golden dragons), complete with a variety of intricately-detailed figurines floating in precisely delineated spaces (it could happen), opposite a young familiar lass that may have appeared at a party one time! (And that one's unique to Him.)

"Kage, good sir, how are you! And tell Me about this box you hold!" Floating on down, Zhil's a tad surprised and seeming quite genial.

"Zhilbar, you handsome old lizard! I amdoing rather well, actually, having just got myself in a bit of Trouble with the Aristans. Nothing bad mind you, just a headache or two on their part."

"And this box is for you, my friend. I went Shopping, which is how the aforementioned handsome Guards and Civilians received their headaches, naturally. I couldn't resist getting something for my second-favorite dragon while I was out. I hope you don't mind?" Yes, that might be a flame-flicker of Amusement in his eyes. Asking a dragon if he minds Gifts, indeed!

And he bows to the lovely young woman. "I fear I did not realize you would be here, Ma'am, or there would be two boxes in hand. I hope my faux-pas can be forgivin?"

Naoko floated down to where Zhilbar was and executed a pretty little curtsy in zero-g. She laughed softly at the "Ma'am" though.

"There's nothing to forgive if it's not intentional. Good evening, kind sir," there was a mischievous twinkle in her eye. "Would you care to join us?"

"I would love to, Miss Naoko, Ma'am. I cannot promise to be much company, but I will certainly do my best."

And Kage gives a sly look to Zhil. "Did you want this now, or should I hold onto it, Goldilocks?"

Date: 2009-07-23 01:45 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] zhilbar.livejournal.com
Zhil is Very Obviously not making with the grabby-paws while they banter, but- "GOLDILOCKS!?" You have GOT to be kidding Him!

And one glance at Naoko verifies that He is never, ever, EVER going to hear the end of that one. (He's just hoping she doesn't tell her family. This does not need to spread!)

Still, even with the utterly ludicrous nicknaming, the suggestion that He might not get his present nearly led to diving directly at The Box! Indeed, it's only long experience with how much He'd get messed with if He did that enabled Him to desist. "I'll take NOW, thank you very much Toastypuff. Unless you planned on taunting Me with it some more?"

Kage chuckles and holds out the box for him. "I wouldn't dream of taunting you, Great Lizard. I only hope you like it."

Naoko covered her mouth and laughed merrily. Goldilocks indeed! Now that would be something to call him in private.

"Well met, Kage-san," she watched as Zhilbar took the box. "What's in it?" her curiousity overcoming her.

Sometimes, especially about embarrassing Significant-Other-activities, Zhil just hates to be right.

Still, there is The Box to consider! Naturally, He'll hold it up. He'll shake it. He'll peer at it from all angles, trying to deduce what is inside from all the available clues...

Then he'll just tear open the top and twitch visibly at what's inside. And that is!

That is a snazzy deep-purple suit and matching fedora, Sir! Sized to fit the human-ish-shaped Dragon-man that came to the Party.

Kage grins. "I saw it and immediately thought of you, and how it would set off the gold of your scales, O Great Lizard. And the hat, naturally, just had your name all over it."

From: [identity profile] mistressnaoko.livejournal.com
Naoko peeked over Zhilbar's shoulder as he opened, and her eyes went wide. She was torn between laughing and going, "Oh dear!" The material was exquisite, and the hat justifiably so, but the colour...

Considering what the colour purple meant to her beloved, she settled for a breathless and vague-sounding, "Oh my!"

Date: 2009-07-28 03:27 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] zhilbar.livejournal.com
Oooh, yes, Zhil definitely has a THING about the colour. Still, Kage just looks so happy about his choice, and the cut is so very nice as well, how can He let the boy down?

Time to call in those old acting skills. "How- very charming!" He'll lift it up, making sure to admire it in the light. "Very rich colouration, and sized just right. How did you ever get My measurements, anyway? I doubt I imbibed enough to forget that..." He'll flash a grin Kagewards now, very convincingly.

"Thank you very much, Sah. 'Tis quite a praiseworthy suit indeed! But it does need something..." Looking at the fedora (and quite thoroughly repressing any sign of irrational destructive impulses), He turned it one way, then another... then pulled a pheasant feather out of thin air and tucked it into the brim. "Just the right touch!"

Kage shrugs. "I have a good eye. Cassie has never told me her size, either, and I buy chain-mail dresses for her. You can't cheat on sizing for those."

"You have a very sharp eye indeed, Kage-san. Ah, they're here with refreshments. Would you care to join us?" Naoko moved out of the zero-g field to where a servant was holding up a tray.

She took a glass in each hand and proffered them to the boys.

From: [identity profile] zhilbar.livejournal.com
"Chainmail dresses..." He'll muse on that, eyes lingering on Naoko consideringly as He accepted a glass with a smile.

"Well, from what I've seen Cassie seems to thrive in them. So very conductive, after all... But I daresay I'll stick with fabrics. And maybe woven gems... HMM." Idea! An idea that will go down with a good sip- followed by looking at Naoko with pleased surprise. "The Swordsward '46, love? I didn't think we still had any! Excellent choice, if I may say."

Gesturing at another server bearing covered tray, He cocked His head Kageward. "Please, do go with an onion puff or two as well! They're nummy."

From: [identity profile] kage-himoto.livejournal.com
Kage will take the proffered glass with a smile and a bow. "Thank you, Lady Naoko."

"Silly lizard. I get Cassie the dresses because they're fireproof, unless I deliberately try to melt them. And for what I pay for them? Cassie would have to kill the twins or Hy to get me that pissed at her, and how likely is she to do that?"

Kage sips as he eyes the onion puffs. "Not to be rude, but what's in them? my system can be picky about some things." A wry grin. "Cassie and Hy don't know how lucky they are to be able to eat anything."

Naoko took a pastry and sniffed, trying to remember what went in.

"Butter, some flour, red peppers, sour cream and some cheese, I think," Sukina was usually more well-versed in cooking than she was. "You would not happen to be lactose-intolerant, would you, Kage-san?"

"I usually like to add a mineral filling, maybe a blend of some ground gemstones if I'm feeling particularly fancy, but that's a matter of limited appeal to others." He'll go ahead and make a dismissive little headwiggle. "The onions really get brought out by that faintest hint of bell pepper, though! There's just something about the alchemy of cooking that I always enjoyed."

Meanwhile, the guy over there with the Turkish delight is just standing patiently with uncovered tray; all in good time.

There is a polite bow to Naoko as he takes a pastry and eats. "No, Ma'am, but dairy and egg are really the only animal-based things I find it comfortable to eat. This is good though, thank you."

"And I probably couldn't feed from the minerals, Goldilocks, but they wouldn't harm me as they would others. Now wood, a nice cedar or hickory, would work well with onions." You are being Teased, Zhilbar.
